And Now You Know The Rest of The Story

Yesterday I blogged about a vintage item which I had purchased at an auction a couple of years ago. I bought it because I thought it was unusual, but I had no idea what it was.

As I said yesterday, I tried researching it on my own, but since I didn't know the name of "that thing", it was kind of hard to even begin to get anywhere.

Finally, yesterday, I found out what "that thing" was.

Feeling a little playful, I decided that instead of identifying it in yesterday's blog, I would leave it up to the reader's imagination.

I thought it would be interesting to see if anyone would be willing to venture a guess.
Or perhaps there would be someone who actually did know what it was.

It has the appearance of a handbag.

It is designed to be carried a distance from the kitchen without risk of spill or scalding.

The heavily padded interior holds the tea pot stationary and the contents hot. A brass handle and clasp keeps the contents secure with ease of carrying.

The pot is simply enclosed within the bag  and fastened shut. This is particularly useful when going back for refreshment and top-ups to the pot. Perfect for taking tea in the garden.

It is called a:
 Vintage Tea Cosy Carrier
 or
Garden Tea Cosy

And so in the words of Paul Harvey

"And now you know the rest of the story".

  1. That is too cool (or hot) for words.  I like this element of suspense; not only was the cosy aesthetically pleasing, it is practical as all get-out.  I had figured it protected something fragile and valuable, but hot tea?  Never.  Well played.

  2. Wow, that's actually a really clever idea. I would never have guessed what it was though!

Nice, & Pretty too.  I love old stuff.  It is even more cool when it is the kind of stuff that is not normally used these days.

  4. I was guessing that it held a musical instrument of some kind. Amazing that there are no water stains, or tea stains! Thanks for the puzzler!
