Everything But The Kitchen Sink

We had a decision to make today.

You know how there are some things you just take for granted.  For instance when you flip a switch the light goes on or it goes off.  You don’t wonder about it, you don’t give it a thought.

You have a wide variety of choices on your TV remote. Among these are turning on the power, selecting a channel and controlling the volume.   I’m pretty certain that you are not in awe each time you select an option and it works.

When you turn the knob on the stove you get a flame.
Your refrigerator keeps your food cold and safe.  It just does.
Your washer washes and your dryer dries.
You get the picture .
The washer and dryer I wish I had.
So a few weeks ago when I went to turn on the faucet, and the top fell off, well I didn’t expect that.  Ross kind of jury rigged it so the faucet works, but we knew, after 12 years, it was time for a new one.

The plumber came today with pictures of faucets that he thought might work in our existing sink configuration.

Ross wanted to know which one I liked.   I said, “They all look the same to me.”
Then I said, "Well, that’s not really true.  I, of course, can see the subtle differences.  But I am not that fussy.”  You pick.”

We both agreed to eliminate number three.  And then we decided that number two wasn’t the right one.

So now it was between one and four.
As it turned out I am a little more fussy than I thought.
When Ross said that it didn’t really matter to him, but he thought number four was kind of the right one.
I said, “um…no.”  It has to be number one.

I wonder if the faucet is going to look too new for our old sink.

  1. Maybe you can update the sink too :)

I like the one you chose. When ours went out a little bit okay, I sent hubby to Home Depot and said "get whatever is the cheapest, LOL". Long story but we are living in a house that is slowing falling apart, the good news is it is paid for, the bad news is hubby quit his rather nice paying job to move down here to take over the home when his parents went into assisted living 3 years ago (they subsequently passed) so now we have no money for repairs :)

    1. It sounds as though you are in a tough situation.
Our house is not falling apart, but it is at that stage where things are probably going to start to need repairs or need to be replaced. I sometimes wonder if renting might be a less worrisome option.

  2. I was thinking I would have opted for number two. I like that it appears to have a pull out sprayer option (looks like only Number One doesn't). And I like the large handle. I'm certain any one of them will be fine. I probably picked number two because it looks the most similar to mine. I am a real creature of habit!

    1. I do think that number one does have the pull out sprayer. At least that is the one thing I wanted it to have. While the plumber was here I also asked him to give us a price on a filtration system. I am tired of filling up Brita pitchers. We can not drink our water from the tap. It tastes horrible. I use filtered water for everything, coffee, tea pasta.

  3. I used to drink filtered water. Then one day I tried water right out of the tap. It tasted the same. I usually mix it with a little orange juice.

    1. Yeah, we for sure can’t drink out of the tap. The plumber told us that he installed a whole house filtration system. All of the water in his house is filtered. They bathe and shower in filtered water. Sorry, but he couldn’t sell me on that one.

  4. First the faucet. Then the sink. Then the backsplash... We had our kitchen redone six years ago, and we love it now. A bit pain to do, but worth it.

    1. I know what you mean. That’s exactly what I was thinking. I would like a new backsplash. And new knobs on the cabinets.

    1. I think that’s what Ross like about number 4. It had the larger handle. Hey wait a minute, you know come to think of it, how did they expect me to pick something from a photo anyway. I need to touch it, try it out.
No wonder the guy made me initial my choice. Like that would stop me from changing my mind. Haha.
