A-Z April Challenge H is for Winning the Lottery

My Hideaway.

One of my “if I ever won the lottery” dreams is to have a place to escape to that is not here.

Even though I am normally drawn to the ocean and the beach, my fantasy “not here” is woodsy and lakefront.

Although, when we travel, we can’t afford the luxurious resorts of the “rich and famous”, I must admit I am rather finicky about the places we stay.

But my hideaway would be rustic and log cabiny.

It would have a front porch with a hanging swing and of course rockers.

My morning tea would be accompanied by a harmonious chorus of   humming and chirping.

My afternoons would be lazy.  I would grow drowsy in the warmth of the afternoon sun and fall asleep to the monotonous sounds of ducky quacks and buzzy humbly bees.

My dinner guests would be quiet and gentle souls.

Night times would be softly lit by moon glows and firefly lamps.

Oh by the way, my hideaway would not have mosquitoes, black flies,  snakes or grizzly bears.

But indoor plumbing, air conditioning and a Whole Foods down the road a bit, well they are a must.

Hey, I won the lottery, right?

  1. YAY for the lottery. I think I have won EVERY time I've played!
Love the photos! Did you take them all? My favorite is the little yellow bird. :)

  2. Realistically, and deep down inside I know that I probably wouldn’t be happy somewhere out in the middle of nowhere.
But, a weekend away, at a Marriott, of course, could be just as therapeutic. :)

I went back and labeled my photos. I miss taking pictures. I should do that again, soon.

The yellow bird was hanging out in my neighbor’s lavender plant. She posed very nicely for me.

  5. :) I love making firefly lamps! We went camping in northern IL once and saw a field that was just glowing with them. It was absolutely stunning. Great word for H!

    Happy 2nd week!

    1. You know, come to think of it, I haven’t seen fireflies in quite a while. I wonder why that is.

I’m having fun with the challenge.

  6. Well, I thought you were coming to see me, until you got to the part about no mosquitos, et al. Besides, the bears that reside locally are not grizzlies; they are just regular run-of-the-mill California bears.

    1. So, is that what your mountain is like? Except for the mosquitos, et al. I am jealous.
