The Stranger in Aisle 7 of The Acme

"They" say if you make your commitment publicly known you're more likely to follow through.
So here it is.
I commit to blogging on every Tuesday.
"They" say all you need is the first sentence to get you started.
Well, looky here, including this one, I've already got five.

Since I've finished the A-Z challenge, I'm back to my old pattern of writing whenever.  And to tell you the truth I miss writing.

Too bad "they" haven't invented a way to record thoughts.  You know the ones that pop into your head and you think, what a great idea. Then suddenly, without a bit of grace, but with a worrying amount of brute force, another thought bullies that shy brilliant one out of the way, silencing it perhaps forever.

As I go about my day, my constantly noisy brain chatters away.  I pay close attention to the chatter. I know that to be true because the stranger I may have noticed in aisle 7 of the Acme becomes the main character and that brief obscure random encounter becomes the convoluted plot of some of my most bizarre dreams.
I suppose if I were a real writer I would carry a notebook around with me to capture those rare precious gems.

No, I'm not going to publicly commit to that.

Thank you for your support.
See you next Tuesday.

  1. A/Z really wiped me out this year; considering perhaps not doing it next year or not taking so much on with it. It is good to commit to blogging one day a week and then if a random thought or two comes into your mind that is remembered, you can always throw in another post or two during the week :)

    1. Yes, I know what you mean by the end of the challenge my blogging mojo was spent. I think I can reasonably stick to one day a week, though.

  2. I am a hardened blogger who is ever so slowly running out of steam. I try to blog most days but have several things happening which in the next couple of weeks might change that a bit. . . . we will see. I think the key to blogging is a bit of self discipline like most things in life I guess, folk need to think of it a one of those must do jobs like watering the house plants or feeding the cat.

Thanks for calling by and commenting on my humble little blog it is always good to see new comments.

    1. Right, like watering the house plants. I'm not too good with that either. But I do feed the dog every day :) Your blog is one of the most unique. I really enjoy it.

  3. I go in and out of running out of steam. I don't think I really blog anything that is earth shattering anyway. I just blog to be creating a record of some sort. Every Tuesday is good!

    1. Paula, I love that you are recorded your life. When I read your blog, I think about how great it will be for your grandchildren and their children to read. And you make it interesting.

  4. Now, see, if I publicly commit to something, I'm explaining why I failed the next time my commitment comes around. Which is why I don't do it. (I can commit to making a change by myself. Then I might do it.)

Notebook? Nah. It'd be nice, but I never got the hang of that. Of course, you could just jot things down on your phone...

    1. I suppose what I am really doing is making a commitment to myself. I have a feeling most people wont' even notice if I don't keep up with this one.

  5. It's gotten a lot easier since I work at home for myself. I'm a much better boss than those other people were.
