Blogging from A to Z Challenge
April 2016
This month I will be participating in the “Blogging from A-Z Challenge”
What is it?
Blogging every day. It begins on April First with a topic themed on something with the letter A, then on April second another topic with the letter B as the theme, and so on until I finish on April thirtieth with the theme based on the letter Z. The theme of the day is the letter scheduled for that day.
Unless otherwise stated, I will be writing fictional pieces, as is this first one.

My mother left when I was old enough to realize but too young to understand.
Years later, as I look back on that time of the immediate days after, I liken the experience to the first stages of grief.
We spoke only in a hush of whispers for it seemed she had taken our voices away with her.
We tiptoed into separation, each of us finding our own hiding nooks, for it seemed she had painstakingly untied each knot of the cord that had bound us so tightly together.
We wandered aimlessly like unprogrammed robots for it seemed she had stolen our purpose.
I remember feeling childishly confused, repeatedly asking questions no one would answer. Where had she gone? Why did she go? When is she coming home?
Now I am old enough to understand. After nearly seven decades of life experiences, I realize that she left us many years before she walked out the door.
