That was my first experience with hospice. Most important was the way they treated my mom. They were kind, caring, compassionate. The nurse who came every day, came to my mom's wake. Second most important was the attention they gave to Ross and I, as the main caregivers, but that attention and care also extended to the rest of the family. It would have been a different experience without the help of hospice. Hopefully, that is the care my uncle is now receiving.Lynda Goldsteinnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1078324787471983933.post-4537245576927779592012-02-12T23:21:47.639-05:002012-02-12T23:21:47.639-05:00I am so sorry you and your loved ones are experien...I am so sorry you and your loved ones are experiencing such pain. It is hard enough to deal with the onset of illness, let alone an indifferent medical staff. Keep your spirits up; it can't hurt and it may help.Mark O'Neillhttp://markyswrite.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1078324787471983933.post-9347423142237900102012-02-12T00:09:14.691-05:002012-02-12T00:09:14.691-05:00I am so sorry to hear your sad story. What makes ...I am so sorry to hear your sad story. What makes me angry is this is not the first time I have heard such a tragic story. I repeatedly have felt as if the medical establishment has it all wrong. Money drives everything and patient care falls to the bottom. I DO KNOW that there are many compassionate people in the medical world and they are just as angry as I am about how much the insurance companies and the money angle of health care drives so much. As in education, the whole health care system needs renovation but how realistic is that?<br />And, sadly, medical personnel can be so overworked that they lose their patience with the patients and family members. There should be a plan for your uncle that allows unlimited pain meds at this point. And NO MORE tests. Likely, once he gets admitted to hospice, that will be the plan but so sad that he had to endure these days.sebtown294noreply@blogger.com
