Today I am having a first time experience. The anticipation of this day kept me awake a good portion of the night. This morning my insides are wildly fluttering as if thousands of newly hatched butterflies are desperately trying to escape.
It’s 6:45 a.m. Ross sleeps soundly next to me with one reassuring hand reached out touching my shoulder.
In my mind I go over the list of do’s and don’ts.
Projected images of what it will be like niggle at me. I glimpse at them briefly and then send them on their way to jostle with a hundred other thoughts vying for my attention.
Bella played skip the rope and said, “Grandma look at how fast I can go.”
Ryan came blasting through the door with his policeman’s cap pulled down over his eyes, holding up his credentials for all of us to see. He took the stairs two at a time chasing after the bad guys who were holding his Teddy hostage.
Domani, an old pro, with years of two experience, seriously sang each word of “Happy Birthday dear Bella, Happy Birthday to you.
These are yesterday’s memories which I will keep with me today.
