O: The Others

This month I am participating in the April 2012 Blogging From A-Z Challenge. I will be blogging every day this month with Sundays off (except for April 1) using a letter of the alphabet in order from A through Z. So, Basically, beginning with April 1, my topic will be themed on something with the letterA, then on April second another topic with the letter B as the theme, and so on until I finish on April thirtieth with the theme based on the letter Z.

O:

The Others

The others think I am okay
because when they ask
I say just fine and how are you.

The others talk to me about
about what theirs are doing
and I say how wonderful.

The others think I am okay
because when they see me
I smile and laugh at their jokes.

The others talk to me about
let's get together soon and
I say yes real soon.

The others think I am okay
because when I whisper of my pain
they want to talk of other things.

The pages from Anna's diary for April 17 & 18 are missing.

  1. I love the thought of peeking into 1929 through someone else's eyes. Great poem.

  2. The Others are not sure what to do.  and yet they can still evoke loneliness.

  3. Nice job expressing big stuff as always. And I'm with JT. We're conditioned to shy away from expressions of pain and grief, which makes it unintentionally so much harder on those who are suffering.
